What does this Support Worker job involve?

 

PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide daily support and assistance for clients undertaking residential treatment and therapy with Abbington House.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Greeting and inducting new clients, ensuring they feel welcomed and informed about the therapy process and schedule.
  • Conducting patient observations, assessments, and random testing as per detox protocols.
  • Supporting clients to and from group sessions, ensuring punctuality and preparedness.
  • Preparing and maintaining client care records, educational materials, and welcome packs.
  • Engaging with clients in communal areas, addressing their practical and welfare needs.
  • Assisting clients throughout their journey, providing encouragement and addressing queries.
  • Facilitating recovery groups, providing feedback on step papers, and support clients’ understanding.
  • Promoting and explaining extended therapy packages and aftercare services to clients.
 

Expected hours: No more than 16 per week

 

Am I the right person for this Support Worker job?

 

We would like the applicant to:

 

  • Have previous experience in Adult care: 1 year (required)
  • Be caring and empathic.
  • Be able to work with autonomy to care for clients.
  • Have basic knowledge of Medication Administration policy and procedure.
  • Be committed to helping clients achieve a better sense of themselves.
  • Have a tolerant and loving attitude towards clients with addiction issues.
  • Have personal experience with addiction, either personally or through a loved one (preferred).
  • Hold a valid Driving Licence (preferred)
