Job Responsibilities:
Personal Assistance
- Provide physical assistance to individuals who need help moving around the house and during outings.
- Support wheelchair users with mobility and accessibility needs.
Health and Safety
- Follow individual care plans and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies to manage behaviors and needs.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and eating.
Communication Support
- Use and respect each individual’s preferred communication methods, especially for nonverbal individuals.
- Offer choices and explain activities clearly to ensure understanding.
Activity Coordination
- Accompany individuals to day centers, local pubs, garden centers, and on shopping trips.
- Plan and participate in day trips to the seaside and long drives.
- Organize and engage in in-house activities such as arts and crafts, jigsaw puzzles, and movie sessions.
Emotional and Social Support
- Be patient and understanding, especially during moments of frustration.
- Provide companionship and respect personal space when needed.
- Engage in activities that bring joy, such as hand massages or nail painting.
Interest and Leisure Activities
- Support individuals in enjoying their interests, including listening to music and watching Disney movies.
- Encourage participation in social activities and outings.
Professional Development
- Stay updated with training and best practices for supporting individuals with dementia, autism, and learning disabilities.
- Collaborate with the staff team to ensure consistent and high-quality care.
