Verulam House is a nursing and residential home located in the heart of St Albans. Verulam House is in the tranquillity of its own beautiful gardens and is within walking distance from the town centre which makes it easily accessible by bus, train or own transport.

We can accommodate up to 50 residents, who require assistance with assisted living, full nursing, palliative or dementia care. We also accommodate people that require post-op convalescence care, short stay respite care. We have an established team of trained staff & experienced staff with good staff retention. We endeavour to offer quality care for all residents within an atmosphere that is always friendly yet professional and respectful.

• Provide residents with a range of stimulating recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities.
• Ensure activities are client-centered, age-appropriate, and align with Verulam House philosophy of care.
• Support residents in leading as independent a life as possible in a caring and supportive atmosphere.
• Maintain the dignity of residents at all times.
• Assist the activity team leader in delivering a program of thoughtfully designed activities and events.
• Promote social interaction and independence for residents.
• Carefully assess each resident’s individual needs and abilities.
• Carry out group and one-to-one activities to enhance the quality of life for each resident.

• Experience of supporting the organising and scheduling programmes of events or activities.
• Experience of working and/or engaging with older people.
• Good organisational skills, listening skills, good written non-verbal and verbal communication skills.
• Dementia knowledge desirable.
• Basic knowledge of and competence in core Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and Windows.
• Reliable and punctual, flexible and adaptable.
• Willing and able to work alternate weekends and on occasions evenings.
• Kind and caring, enthusiastic and keen to learn and develop.
