About the Company

 

Sunnyside Rural Trust in Hemel Hempstead is a registered charity and has built an innovative model of care-based support around offering training and work experience to adults with Learning Disabilities, within a social enterprise and horticultural setting.  Across our services, we grow a range of fruit, vegetables, herbs, plants including a large number of bedding plants for Dacorum Borough Council, and perennial plants for a variety of local buyers, coppice wood, conservation projects and we have 2 farm shops. We also look after pigs, sheep goats and chickens.

 

We are looking for new project workers to join us. You will be offering support to groups of young people and/or adults with learning disabilities to develop their work skills.  We are looking for people who are passionate about improving the lives of people with Learning Disabilities and creating opportunities for them to develop.

What does this Project Worker job involve?

 

  • A Project Worker helps to support the team and the Manager in providing a high-quality service to people with learning disabilities.
  • To organise and participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
  • To carry out all duties as instructed in a satisfactory manner and in accordance with SRT’s philosophies.
  • To take joint responsibility for organising trainee activities.
  • The role involves working outside in all seasons.
  • To support service users in their personal choices and beliefs.

 

 

Am I the right person for this Project Worker job?

 

  • Full manual licence valid for driving in the UK (if employed to drive).
  • Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and /or working in a care setting.
  • To hold or be willing to work towards mandatory social care qualifications.
  • Experience and/or competence in horticulture.
  • A Project Worker needs to have good standard of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to record documentation accurately.
  • Good IT skills in Word and email.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with service users, colleagues, families and other professionals.
  • To maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour from service users.
  • Able to project plan and deliver.
  • Positive attitude towards people with learning disabilities.
  • Reliable attendance and good time keeping.
