Westbourne is a residential care home for elderly people situated in the historic market town of Hitchin, Hertfordshire and within easy reach of Letchworth, Stevenage and Luton.

Westbourne dates back to 1859 and started trading as a Residential Care Home in 1984, so successful was the venture that the Home was extended with two new wings. The Home now provides residential care for 27 residents. There are lovely gardens with shrubberies, rose beds and raised beds for residents to use. Within the grounds lie areas to sit and relax.

Westbourne has been operating as a Residential Care Home for older people since 1984 and has since been extended due to success of the service. We provide care for 27 residents and are committed to sustaining an excellent level of care for all our service-users.

 

What does this Deputy manager job involve?

 

The postion involves working two days supernuamary and two days on the floor leading the care team administering Medication reviewing care plans, the two days supernuamary will involve updating care plans completing audits, and other tasks to ensure our residents are safe and well cared for.

 

 

You will be leading a small care team from the front, you will maximise the quality of life for all our residents and maintain the day-to-day efficiency of the home. 

 

As a Deputy Manager, your role will include the following duties:

  • Carry out needs and risk assessments and develop person-centred plans of care delivery.
  • Shadow, supervise, instruct and support the care team.
  • Support management as required in line with current business needs
  • Maintain clear, accurate, appropriate and up-to-date records, whether electronic or in other formats;
  • Have due regard for the health and safety of themselves and others;
  • Practice and promote effective, timely communication both within and outside the care home;
  • Participate in staff development, supervision, training and performance appraisals.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures as appropriate;
  • Fulfil any other duties or carry out any other tasks such as may be reasonably requested by management.

 

Am I the right person for this Deputy manager job?

 

You will hold an NVQ2/3, unpinned nurse qualification, or similar and have hands on experience of working with older people.

Attention to detail and good team skills are essential.
